Day 9–30/30 Challenge

1. 30 Crockpot meals in 30 Days

So today I tried a recipe Krystal suggested

We got flank steak (or was it cubed steak?)

We threw it in the crockpot with peppers, worcestershire sauce (spelling?) and some water

That was it!!  Turned out pretty good and the kids liked it

2. 3o Minutes of walking/jogging for 30 days

So I have settled into a routine on the treadmill where I walk the first 5 minutes and then I simply jog 2 minutes, walk 5 minutes, jog 2 minutes etc

This is starting to feel normal to me now.

I will continue to do this and then at some point I will up the jogging to 3 minute intervals.

In addition to that we are doing the following:

Recumbent Bike for 10 minutes at Level 5 (this is a warm up for the treadmill)

Treadmill 30 Minutes (alternating jogging and walking )

Machine I don’t know the name of that simulates high knees (1 minute first day….5 minutes today)

Elliptical (5 minutes first 2 days….6 minutes today)

Here we are on the recumbent bike

Here we are on the treadmill!

This was either the elliptical or the Arc Trainer (which I have decided is the name of that other machine that feels like high knees)

 photo 5-3

So I believe this is the Arc Trainer.  Let me tell you it is NOT easy for me at all!!!

Krystal on the other hand did a full 7 minutes on this thing!!! She is kicking butt!

And we are DONE!!!

Next week we are going to start the upper body/lower body alternate strength training workouts that my sister in law Beth gave me.

I will detail that in a post by itself

Things are going really well with the workouts and I’m feeling motivated again!

3.  30 Minutes of Bible Study for 30 days

I don’t know why but I am still studying peace.  I guess this is something I really feel drawn to study and seek more of in my life.

I want to be someone who can feel at peace in all circumstances.  It doesn’t always happen that way but it’s my goal.

I don’t want to be blown here and there by the “wind” when circumstances that are unsavory come my way.

My mother used to tell me that it was important to embrace this verse

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt

Because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

James 1:6

I surely don’t want to be whipped around like the wind!!

That is unfocused, undisciplined and lacking perseverance to keep going in one direction

This kind of reminds me of the Texas weather right about now!

One day it’s sunny and warm….the next day it feels like winter is making a comeback

So anyway….I don’t want to be like Texas weather in my everyday life

I want to be steady, consistent and at peace!!

I have discovered that the biblical concept of peace though really has nothing to do with steady circumstances

photo.PNG-34

So in other words, Texas weather is good training ground for this!

Maybe one day you wake up and it’s summer

But tomorrow it’s cold!

How do you find peace when your life is like the Texas weather?

By embracing John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; but not as the world gives

So do not let your heart be troubled, nor let them be fearful.

I’m continuing to study verses on peace in an effort to really dig deeper into this concept

I may be on this one awhile 🙂

It’s important especially when we feel whipped back and forth by our circumstances

Especially when we feel we make too many mistakes

Peace is what we need I believe to get through those times.

The peace that passes all understanding

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Phillipians 4:7

4.  30 Minutes of House Cleaning in 30 Days

Well……..hmmmm…….;)

And…how are YOU?

That arc machine totally scares me! I keep looking at it at PF & I am just nowhere near brave enough to try it yet. This week has been a struggle, being sick & back pain threw off my schedule so I haven’t been to the gym at all 🙁 Plan to go tomorrow with the hubby and get back on track. It looks like you had a BLAST with your friend, it is so nice to have the encouragement from a work out partner. I’m looking forward to your post on the strength training. As of now I am just working my upper body, but want to get my lower body in there soon.

I had to do a double take on the photo of you by yourself because I thought you were wearing some type of pirate earring in your right ear—then I realized it was a Planet Fitness sign that was attached to the wall. Clearly I need to go to the eye dr. for new glasses. I am super duper proud of you two. You gals are doing sooo awesome! 🙂

Interval training is the best work out. You are on the right track. I proud of you for doing so well with all of your goals, but in particular that one!

The arc trainer kills me. The trainer had me do 5 minutes to warm up and I could barely walk for 2 days. I am up to about 3 minutes not after starting back at 1 minute for a week to get those muscles used to the movement.

Completely need those verses on peace. As I told you my husbands brother just passed away. Would you believe I got a call from our landlord yesterday and they are selling the house we are renting? (I thought they would but the reality stinks) we have 60 days to move.
My life feels like a Lifetime movie sometimes. I am trying to stay focused. It is very hard but I know God’s got this.
I hiked yesterday on my daughter’s field trip and ate well for the most part.

Susan’s Day 9 of 30 Day Challenge

The arc glide looks like the opposite of the elliptical – you get the high end on leg movement. I had to work my way up from 2 to 15 minutes on the elliptical – that arc glider would whoop me. Looks like you and Krystal are doing great!
