I have something to say.
You are not perfect!
That’s right. You are NOT even close to perfect. How do you like that?!
Does that upset you? Wait a minute….neither am I! And you know what? There is freedom in embracing this. So stand up and scream it out. I AM NOT PERFECT!!! (If you were in a public place someone may be looking at you funny but that’s ok….they aren’t perfect either!! Don’t let them fool you!)
Have you ever wasted your time condemning and judging yourself for having screwed up on your food and exercise plan? For not being perfect? Did you let it suck the life out of your weekend? Drain you of all joy? Make you irritable and depressed instead of spending time with your family or friends?
Enjoy your weekend and embrace your IMperfections.
Then remember that you are special. God loves you in spite of your imperfections and He wants you to embrace the idea that in the midst of your mistakes—you are special!
Now do something different. Instead of spending time blaming yourself and judging yourself for your imperfections…do the opposite. Remember that you are NOT supposed to be perfect but that you ARE special and loved. So recognize it!!
Try to do one special thing for yourself this weekend. It could be an extra long bath, 15 minutes relaxing by yourself and listening to some music, buying yourself flowers or getting your nails done. Just do something FOR YOURSELF. It does not make you selfish. If anything, those who struggle with their weight often feel ignored by the world. They are often treated as if they are second rate. This is NOT at all the way you should be treated. You ARE not second rate. You ARE special even if you never lose a single pound.
Here are some more posts I’ve written on this subject. I have found it to be important and even critical to remind myself that I am important, valued and special. We don’t have to wait for someone else in the world to validate us. The fact that you are special and have value remains true regardless of whether others acknowledge it!
So remember that God loves you and so do I!
If you decided to take the challenge and do something special for yourself….tell us what you did!!
