My brother (click the link to follow him on Twitter)
Has now lost 270 Pounds
And here he is now
He sent out this email today
And it really made me stop and think
About the importance
7 Days can make in our lives
So I’d like to share it with you
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Good morning !!
Halloween – gone
Thanksgiving … Checked off
Xmas, Finished
So… Now what ?
This can be the time of year
Where we sometimes say to ourselves
I didn’t do that well
Ate too much
Ate the wrong thing
Didn’t get my Victory exercise in every day
New Years is coming in a few days
I’ll get back in the groove then
I can weigh then
Well… I was “surprised” to find out that there are
SEVEN DAYS
Not just one or two
Between Christmas and New Years
SEVEN !
A person can do a lot in 7 days
Good
Or not so good
There’s now 3 days left
What will You do to move into action ?
What will I do ?
I challenge you to take action today
Too tired?
Too busy?
Too sick?
Too injured?
Too cold ???
Can you do 30 Seconds ?
Or ADD 30 Seconds TODAY?!!
YOUR Freedom awaits – Seize it : )
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
This email really made me stop and think
About something
I had never realized before
The fact that there are seven whole days
To really do serious damage
If we go off the rails during the holidays
Now here’s reality
I don’t need seven days to do damage
Give me seven MINUTES
And I can get the job done!
It often takes just one bite of the wrong food
To throw me into the hole
But SEVEN DAYS??
Imagine how far off track I could go
If I had seven days?
But what if I was already off track right now?
What if I was reading this
But I had just spent the past 4 days
Eating whatever I wanted
Ingesting a lot of sugar
Not working out
Then I’d be thinking to myself…..
It’s already too late
The damage is already done
I might as well just keep eating
I might as well just keep indulging
I’ve already done it now
So what’s the point?
So here’s the point
Four days of damage
Is not SEVEN days of damage
And when your head tells you that
4 equals 7
That 3 more days of damage
Is not going to make any difference
That it’s already too late
Then it’s time you hit the eject button
And tell those thoughts
To take a hike!
Because your head is telling you lies!
There are three more days
To turn it around
And it doesn’t even take
3 days to make a difference
It only takes 30 seconds
So if you are already off the rails
And you’re not so sure
That you can stop the runaway train
If you aren’t convinced yet
That you should try to get back on track
Then just do this one thing
30 seconds of walking
If you can do 10 minutes
Then do 10 minutes
If you can do 20 minutes
Then do 20
Just do what you can do
And then see how you feel
You may have sugar flowing through your veins right now
You may have your grandmother’s banana nut bread
Floating through your mind
And invading your dreams
So don’t get overwhelmed
Don’t try to change the world in one day
Just commit to that one thing
30 seconds of exercise
Or whatever level you can do
For the next 3 days
Even if that is all you do
It will still make a difference
It will help flip the switch in your head
It will keep you stronger mentally
So just try it and see what happens
So many will say at this time of year
That the most important thing for you to do
Is to enjoy the holidays
And not worry about your food plan
Or your exercise
But did it ever occur to you
That the people who are saying those things
Don’t have the same problem
As many of us!
They don’t have any problem getting back on track
So of course they say that!
Of course they say indulge!
Because they know they can handle it
They know they won’t spend the next month
In a box of donuts
So to them…eat, drink and be merry!
But seven days in my world
Could mean a 10 pound gain
EASY
That is how efficient I am
At packing on the pounds
That is how insane I get
Once I let the flood gates open
If you are like me
And a little indulgence
Leads to destruction
Then the holidays may have
Thrown a wrench in your plans
LET’S THROW IT BACK!
Take the challenge
And commit to some form of exercise
No matter how small
For the next 3 days
Even if it’s just for 30 seconds
Believe it or not
That small step
That one choice
In the midst of the storm
Could be the very thing
That flips the switch
And puts the train
Back on its tracks
Will you take the challenge?
Will you make the next 3 days
Count for victory?
If you decide to take on the challenge
Put a link to this post on your blog
And then blog about it!
Tell us how you threw a wrench in things
And turned it into victory!
I don’t care if you walked in place for 30 seconds
IT COUNTS!
So whether you went to the gym and lifted weights
Rocked it out at Crossfit, Curves or Planet Fitness
Walked across the room and back for 30 seconds
Whatever it was
Do it
Snap a pic of it
Post it
And link back here
Then email me at 300poundsdown@gmail.com
Or message me via the 300 Pounds Down Facebook Page
With the link to your blog post
And I will post your links here on the blog next week
While you’re at the 300 Pounds Down Facebook page
Look for the post where everyone is leaving links
To their weight loss/fitness/health blogs
Add yours!!
The more motivation and inspiration we all have
The better!
If you don’t blog
Then tell us what you’ve done
To throw a wrench in it
In the comment section
Because we want to know!
I know we can do this!
We can turn
7 days of potential damage
Into victory!!
So if the holidays have thrown a wrench
In your plans
Throw it back!!
Be victorious!
Fight on my warrior friends!!

I actually did really well during Halloween, and Thanksgiving! I haven’t been sleeved yet but I am on a very strict diet. I have to lose some weight before surgery. I have done well on this diet. Lost 30 lbs in a month! It’s hard but I’m doing it and I know it will be worth it. But I am getting really tired of eating the same things over and over. So Christmas was my wrench. Instead of eating my regular meal at lunch time I ate pizza. It was a small individual pizza with four little slices, and I had four cheese sticks. Then for dinner that night I had green bean casserole with my chicken. It tasted so good, but it made me feel so bad at the same time. I have gotten back on track! When I have my mind set, I will put 100% of my devotion into it! And I know that I’m going to make mistakes and fall.. I’m not perfect! However, working out is my down fall. I live in the country, in Ohio and I am buried under 10 inches of snow!! So walking outside is a no no right now.. so it’s back to walking in place!

Katie,
You are doing really awesome. To lose all that weight before you have even had the surgery is amazing. Just imagine how much butt you’ll be kicking afterwards if this is what you can do now! I absolutely love Leslie Sansone walking DVD”s. They are perfect for inside walking!! They totally work and get the job done! I’ve been breaking mine out this week as a matter of fact!
This is great. Your brother looks amazing! Can I ask… did he have to have loose skin removed or has his rigorous exercise taken care of everything? Sorry if that’s too personal, but I have a friend who did her best with The Firm and Walk Away the Pounds. She lost 125 lbs and had lots of loose skin under her clothes. She and I always wonder about people who lose all this weight. Inquiring minds, I guess. LOL She ended up gaining back all her weight and therefore is reusing the loose skin. LOL

Wow … Throw a wrench in it …Great idea ! People often think losing “lots” of weight is about doing Extraordinary things, but it’s NOT, It’s about doing Ordinary things DAILY!
Staci – to answer your question no I have not had the loose skin removed and No you can’t exercise it away. It does improve over time a little through the exercise but its still there like a sweater .. TMI ? Lol good luck on you journey n blog
Lee
@LJCBF
LOL, thanks Lee. Well you can’t see your under sweater when wearing your clothes, so that’s great!

Thanks Linda!! That picture of you in the race on your blog always motivates me!
I just posted on my blog last night about getting back to the gym. Christmas was my first day of exercise, yesterday was my 2nd. And I’ll be back at the gym this morning.
This year, the phrase “I’m going to enjoy the holidays and get back on my diet afterwards” really started sounding like an excuse to me. I have used that phrase every year… but this one was different. I stayed ON PLAN and SUGAR/REFINED CARB FREE for the entire holiday season and it was an awesome feeling. I proved to myself that the holiday IS NOT about food. It is about so much more than that. The food is just an excuse.

That’s awesome Hollie!! If you post on your blog about the challenge let me know so I can post it on here. I think your level of commitment is motivating not just to me but many!!
Holly, your brother looks amazing and he looks so happy. I wanted to tell you that in your recent pictures I can really see a huge difference in how small you are getting. The picture of you and the girls in the pj’s really show just how much you have lost. You are beautiful but honestly the thing I admire even more is your inner beauty and the light that shines for Christ through you. God bless you this coming new year.
Thank you so much Jeanette!
Wow you made my whole day!!! Thank you so much!
Thanks for getting me started~ I just walked 1 minute, not much but at least it wasn’t 1 minute of eating!
Starting slowly, love that you radiate God’s Love…
Lisa
AAAH!! This is exciting Lisa!! I am so happy for you!! Way to go! ONE WHOLE MINUTE??? Well you did DOUBLE my time the first day I started!! WOO HOO!! I am the crazy one on the sidelines cheering you for you and jumping up and down!
Hi Holly, thank you for the challenge — I LOVE challenges! I have decided to do a 5K every single day until New year’s….and I wanted to tell you that it was because of this blog post, I got up off my lazy rear and jumped on the treadmill tonight. I was in that the-day-is-almost-over-so-i’ll-wait-for-tomorrow mindset, but I changed my mind after reading your post. I don’t have a blog, but i do have a daily mile account (I don’t know if that counts….) http://www.dailymile.com/people/anna_waldmann#ref=tophd
ps I love what another commenter said, “love that you radiate God’s Love” — I completely agree!!!
ps again……I guess I wanted to tell you that i have lost 155#, and am trying so hard to maintain that loss. Your blog is SO inspirational to me to keep going, and not to look back!!!
Anna! I am so happy you left me this comment . I went to that website you left “Daily Mile” and it is awesome . I had never seen it before so thanks for telling me about it. You’re gorgeous! I am so inspired by you and encouraged. Thank you so much for this comment!! I am still trying to get logged into it so I can see your other pictures. Maybe I will set up an account over there. Way to go being a runner! I am still working on it myself. I am new at it but I just admire you so much for doing what you have done. 155 pounds!!!! YAHOO!!!!!
Lisa that walked 1 minute yesterday… Awesome! Can you add 30 sec and walk 1:30 today ??
Lee
You two are quite a team! I don’t blog but left this same message on FB: I didn’t really struggle through Halloween or Thanksgiving but Christmas and all its sweetness made for a more trying time than I expected. This post is right on, though. So far this week, I walked 3 miles the 25th, did 3 12 minute Denise Austin workouts (cardio once and upper body twice) on the 26th, and walked 4 miles with my daughter yesterday, the 28th. Today, although not completed yet, will be some sort of inside workout, I have several videos. Thanks for showing that “I” am not the only one thinking about/struggling with this! xo
Hi Holly! I took the challenge and feel great. http://poochyponders.blogspot.com/2012/12/Prenewyearchallenge.html
You look amazing.
Yeah!!! Thank you so much for participating! You have inspired me today!!
Holly,
I too took the challenge, I have survived Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas food wise, but exercise has really been a challenge for me… So today my whole family went for a walk on the beach (we live in NY it’s cold). We walked 2.71 miles saw seals and picked shells, thanks for a great challenge and a great family day!
